John McGinn (Senior Forensic Document Examiner) 

John has extensive practical experience in the field of forensic document examination, including the examination of handwriting and signatures, acquired over 30+ years during employment with the Western Australian Police Force, the Australian Immigration Department, and our company Document Examination Solutions.

As an expert witness, John regularly presents opinion evidence in both civil and criminal courts of law.  

Beyond his examination role, John delivers specialised workshops, engages with international agencies as a subject matter expert, collaborates in research activities with Curtin University WA, and develops practical material for an accredited proficiency testing program delivered domestically and internationally.

John is a Life Member and former president (2014 - 2018) of the Australasian Society of Forensic Document Examiners Inc. and a Professional Member and former president (2019 - 2021) of the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society WA Branch. To this day, John continues his support of the forensic community both locally and nationally.

Tonya Trubshoe (Senior Forensic Document Examiner)

Tonya is a trusted international Forensic Document Examiner, experienced in the application of document examination techniques and the development of related training.  She has conducted and published research on the impact of context effects in document examination.

Prior to her current role with Document Examination Solutions, Tonya was employed as a specialist document examiner by both the Australian Immigration Department and the Queensland Police Service. For an extensive period, Tonya was employed as a subject matter expert by Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) to develop, manage and deliver the accredited document examination program. Tonya has now shifted her focus to the development of a range of international workshops and proficiency testing programs.

Tonya has completed a diplomatic posting, as a Forensic Document Examiner, on behalf of the Australian government.  As a result she has worked extensively throughout South East Asia, with a strong focus on the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
